Postdoctoral Research Associate in Biophysics and Biochemistry of Early and Applied Protein Evolution (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in ,salary level E 13 TV-L, 100%)

Your tasks:
This position is tied to working towards a Habilitation.
The successful candidate shall undertake work in the area of computational and/or theoretical molecular biophysics and/or biochemistry.
This includes, for example:
- the analysis and construction of biological data sets to reconstruct past evolutionary events of genes, genomes and proteins
- the application and design of computational methods for analyzing quantitative experimental data for characterizing molecular fitness landscapes
- stochastic and/or analytic analysis of dynamic evolutionary events such as gene/transcript loss and gain or artificial populations
- collaborating with and helping to coordinate larger research consortia related to genome and protein evolution
- supervising students and helping teach related courses at BSc, MSc and PhD levels, including mathematical and computational methods related to evolution
The successful candidate will be encouraged and expected to build up their own research agenda related to the subjects of the group by applying for external funding.
Our expectations:
- A PhD in the natural sciences, preferentially in chemistry, physics or mathematics and proven research experience in one or several of the following areas: computational biophysics, the biochemistry of early molecular evolution, theoretical or mathematical biology.
- Experience handling biological data and comprehensive proficiency in modelling and simulation are expected.
- International research experience and proven publication and presentation records in English are a must
