The Institute of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, Dept. of Pharmacology, in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Münster is seeking to fill the position of a


Doctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L)

preferably by January 1st, 2026. A part-time position (50 %) is offered for a fixed term of 3 years. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

The Düfer Group is a team of passionate researchers focused on deciphering the pathological mechanisms leading to the metabolic disease diabetes mellitus. Our goal is to characterize signaling pathways and targets that are suitable for the development of innovative therapeutic approaches.

Your tasks:

  • The position is designed to working towards a doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.)
  • Pharmacological characterization of novel compounds modulating pathways involved in pancreatic islet cell failure and cellular senescence
  • The further development of methods for the analysis of ion channel- or metabolism-regulated cellular phenotypes (electrophysiological, fluorescence-optical, expression assays)
  • Writing scientific texts on the results obtained within the research project and their publication
  • Participation in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy students

Our expectations:

  • A university degree in pharmacy or a university degree in the natural sciences in the field of life sciences with very good grades is required (university degree: state examination, master's degree)
  • Practical experience in handling biological tissue is required
  • Experience in the interpretation and presentation of pharmacological data is desirable
  • Experience in researching pharmacological databases is required
  • IT skills and very good written and spoken English skills are required
  • Basic knowledge of the German language and the willingness to learn it is desirable for non-native speakers
