Doctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level TV-L E 13)
This is a part-time position (50%) limited to three years. The teaching load for a fulltime position is 4 teaching hours per week (SWS).
Your tasks:
- Pursuit of a doctoral research project related to the thematic focus of the position
- Collaboration in research and teaching activities
- Coordination of the international research project “Dynamics in the Middle East – Politics, Society and Religion in Global Interactions”
- Contribution to the content-related and organizational implementation of the project
- Establishment and maintenance of networks with academic, civil society, religious, and political institutions in the Middle East, Europe, and the USA
- Planning, organization, and implementation of academic events (workshops, conferences)
- Editorial work in the preparation and publication of scholarly contributions
- Support in the conceptual development and preparation of third-party funding applications
Our expectations:
- A completed Master’s degree with above-average results in Political Science, Islamic Studies, or a related field in the humanities that qualifies you for the academic coordination of the project “Dynamics in the Middle East – Politics, Society and Religion in Global Interactions”
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken (knowledge of German is an advantage but not a requirement)
- Proven experience in organizing academic events
- Willingness to travel abroad, particularly to countries in the Middle East (e.g., United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel) and to other non-European countries
- Excellent communication skills in engaging with national and international partner institutions
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in carrying out assigned tasks
