The Organic Chemistry Institute in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a


Doctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L, 50 %)

beginning on 1. August 2024. We are offering a part-time position (50% FTE) for a limited period of 3 years. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

Your tasks:

  • Scientific research on the investigation of novel redox switches in solution and at interfaces
  • Participation in teaching and training at the Organic Chemistry Institute -
  • This position is tied to working towards a doctorate. This may require participation in graduate study programs of the Faculty 12 (SFB 1459, IRTG 2678).

Our expectations:

  • A very good university degree in chemistry (or a closely related discipline), including a very good master's thesis (or equivalent degree), ideally with a specialization in organic chemistry and/or supramolecular chemistry is essential.
  • Interest in molecular switches/machines, supramolecular chemistry and electrochemistry is expected.
  • Good theoretical knowledge and practical experience in preparative laboratory techniques (e.g. organic synthesis, chromatography) and standard analytical methods (e.g. UV-vis and NMR spectroscopy) is required.
  • Experience with molecular switches, electrochemistry and/or surface functionalization/characterization would be beneficial.
  • Good oral and written English skills are required.
  • willingness to cooperate nationally and internationally with collaboration partners and to present research results at (international) conferences is expected.
  • Experience instructing students and conducting seminars or tutorials is welcome
