Intelligent Matter: From responsive to adaptive nanosystems
funded by the German Research Foundation and established at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a
Data Steward (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L)
at the earliest possible date. We are offering a fixed-term part-time position (90%) corresponding to the project’s duration until 31 December 2028. The data steward position forms part of an intensive and interdisciplinary research program on the conceptualization and realization of intelligent matter. Intelligence is the ability to perceive information and to retain it as knowledge to be applied towards adaptive behaviour in a changing environment. The CRC 1459 is inspired by the question whether synthetic matter can have intelligent properties. Such intelligent matter would provide entirely new opportunities for instance for the development of artificial skin, soft robotics with adaptive tactility, and brain-inspired computing with reduced energy consumption. Your tasks:
You are specifically responsible for the research data management (RDM) of the CRC 1459, which encompasses both technical as well as organizational aspects:
- Establish a FAIR research data management strategy for the CRC to foster the reproducibility and re-use of scientific data.
- Help research groups to integrate internal and external RDM infrastructure and resources to optimize their RDM activities.
- Document, standardize and optimize RDM workflows.
- Help research groups with specific RDM problems, especially when integrating the centrally provided elabFTW electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) into their research activities.
- Develop elabFTW templates and interfaces.
- Raise further awareness for FAIR RDM with short introductions and courses on RDM know-how.
- Give advice on FAIR RDM, data management plans, meta data standards and available RDM technologies.
- Establish a continuous exchange with other data stewards, NFDIs and internal service centers at University of Münster such as the Service Center for Data Management or the Münster Center for Open Science.
Our expectations:
- A graduate degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) field (i.e. German Diplom and/or master’s degree) is required, a PhD is desirable.
- Substantial knowledge of and interest in current developments in RDM in Germany are required.
- Substantial experience with ELNs is highly desirable.
- Secure programming skills, e.g. in Python, are desirable (though actual data analysis and visualization of scientific data is the responsibility of respective research groups).
- Excellent command of written and spoken English is essential.
- Good communication skills, high motivation and team spirit are expected.
- Independent and responsible work attitude is a must.
