The Institute of International and Comparative Public Law in the Faculty of Law at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of


Doctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L, 65%)

at the earliest possible date. We are offering a fixed-term part-time position (65% FTE) for 3 years. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

Your tasks:

  • Support the chair through independent work on your PhD under the supervision of Professor James Fowkes.
  • Participate in the chair's teaching activities, including grading exams and preparing lessons.
  • Contribute to other academic activities of the chair, such as conference organisation, research colloquia, academic exchange and network maintenance.

Our expectations:

  • A master's degree or equivalent in law is required.
  • Interest in pursuing a PhD in foreign and international law is expected.
  • Excellent English language skills are essential; additional language proficiency is desirable, particularly in German, French and Spanish.
  • Experience with community-based legal thinking or civil law systems is advantageous but not required.
  • Willingness to contribute to various projects and tasks of the chair are anticipated.
