The Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity in the Faculty of Biology at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a


Postdoctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L)

for an externally funded project commencing on 1 May 2025. We are offering a fixed-term full time position (100%) corresponding to the project’s duration until 30 November 2027.

Your tasks:

  • Computational analysis of de novo genes in fly and human genomes with the goal to understand how randomly emerging protein coding genes and their encoded proteins may become functional or even essential

Our expectations:

  • A PhD in biological sciences and research experience in analysing genomes, transcriptomes and RiboSeq data
  • Strong skills in biocomputing, bioinformatics and experience with Python, Linux, Bash and tools for analysing genomes and proteomes
  • Basic skills in generating above mentioned data experimentally
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including oral and written fluency in English. German language skills are not a requirement but a willingness to learn would be advantageous.
