The Institute of Organic Chemistry in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a


Doctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L, 50%)

commencing on 1 January 2025. We are offering a fixed-term part-time position (50% FTE) for 3 years. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

Your tasks:

  • Collaboration in research and teaching
  • Conducting independent research

This position is tied to working towards a doctorate.

Our expectations:

  • A graduate degree in chemistry (i.e. master’s degree) in the field of organic chemistry is required.
  • Good theoretical knowledge of the field of organic chemistry is required.
  • Training as researcher in the fields of synthetic organic and carbohydrate chemistry, (organo)catalysis and sigma-hole bond-donor chemistry is required.
  • Experience in the preparatory laboratory techniques including synthesis, handling and characterization of sensitive organic chemical compounds, as well as tellurium chemistry is required.
  • Practical experience in analytical methods used in organic chemistry (analytical and preparative HPLC, GC- & NMR-Spectroscopy, etc.) is required.
  • Good command of written and spoken English is advantageous.
  • Soft skills such as team-orientation, good communication and organisational skills, the ability to work independently, and creativity are desirable.
