Mathematics Münster is establishing the DFG funded Research Training Group 3027: “Rigorous Analysis of Complex Random Systems”. We seek to employ methods from Probability Theory, Mathematical Analysis and related fields to understand how probabilistic systems modelled on a microscopic scale behave effectively on macroscopic scales. Doctoral Research Associates (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in. salary level E 13 TV-L, 75%)

to commence on October 1st 2025 or soon thereafter. We are offering fixed-term positions for 3 years.

Your tasks:

These positions are designed to working towards a doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) within the Research Training Group (see https://www.uni-muenster.de/MathematicsMuenster/RTG-Probability/). You will pursue your own research project supported by a local supervisor chosen from among the investigators of the Research Training Group.

Our expectations:

  • You hold a graduate degree with above average grades in mathematics or a related field that meets the qualifications required for a doctorate (i.e. master’s degree).
  • Your research interests align with the topics of the Research Training Group.
  • You possess above average mathematical ability as well as intellectual and analytical strength.
  • You show a high level of ambition for, commitment to, and enjoyment in scientific work.
  • You work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
  • You speak and write English fluently. German language skills are not required.
