The Institute of Organic Chemistry in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a
Postdoctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level TV-L E 13, 100%)
within an externally funded project with DSM Nutritional Products commencing on 1st July 2025. We are offering a fixed-term full-time position for one year.
Your tasks:
- You will be expected to work as part of an interdisciplinary team to develop industrially viable processes for bioactive molecule synthesis.
- Designing efficient and sustainable photochemical processes to facilitate the synthesis of advanced intermediates for API production will be a key part of the project.
- Careful mechanistic delineation will be necessary to drive discovery and so an interest in mechanismbased reaction development is essential.
- Regular dissemination of scientific results is a pre-requisite for this position.
Our expectations:
- A doctoral degree in chemistry (PhD or equivalent) is necessary for this position.
- Experience in photocatalysis and stereocontrolled synthesis is also a requirement.
- The ability to fully characterise small organic molecules using standard techniques (e.g. NMR, mass spectrometry) is essential.
- Good command of written and spoken English is essential.
- German language skills would be advantageous but are not a requirement.
- A solid foundation in physical organic chemistry and an interest in reaction mechanisms are advantageous.
- Knowledge of polyene chemistry (synthesis and characterisation) is desirable and experience in multistep synthesis is also necessary.
