The Institute of Geology and Palaeontology in the Faculty of Geosciences at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a


Doctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L, 65%)

commencing on 1 January 2025. We are offering a fixed-term part-time position (65% FTE) for 3 years. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

Your tasks:

  • Work towards a doctorate on the topic of effect-directed analysis of polycyclic aromatic compounds in the environment by use of GC-APLI-MS and ecotoxicological tests (e.g. Micro-EROD)
  • Publication of academic publications
  • ndependent teaching in study courses related to geo- and water sciences particularly in the fields of environmental analysis and geology
  • Support for BSc and MSc students
  • General laboratory work
  • General tasks related to the organization and administration of the applied geology working group

Our expectations:

  • An MSc or German Diplom in the field of geosciences, environmental sciences, biosciences, food chemistry, analytical chemistry or a related field
  • Knowledge of and, ideally, experience in gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (GC-MS)
  • Knowledge of environmental pollutants
  • Good written and spoken English, at least basic knowledge of German
  • The ability to work in a team, good communication skills and an independent working style
