W3 Professorship in “Political Science with a Focus on International Sustainability”

The Institute of Political Science in Department 06 – Education and Social Sciences – at the University of Münster invites applications for a W3 Professorship of “Political Science with a Focus on International Sustainability”, to be filled at the earliest possible date.

The successful candidate is expected to comprehensively represent the field of International Sustainability Policy in both research and teaching. A strong international publication record and experience in acquiring competitive third-party funding in the field are required. Research contributions are particularly welcome in areas such as the international political economy of sustainability, global sustainability governance, international links between climate change and conflict, or the analysis of social and political processes in the contexts of sustainability, justice, and/or transformation are particularly welcome.

Applicants must be willing to contribute to all degree programs offered by the Institute, including teaching in English, and must have substantial and positively evaluated teaching experience. Non-native German speakers are expected to acquire German language proficiency at a minimum of B2 level. Further desirable qualifications include solid knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative methods, experience in academic self-governance, and alignment with the research and teaching priorities of the Institute.

According to § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW) candidates must hold a completed university degree in political science or a related field, an outstanding doctoral degree and proven teaching excellence. Additional academic achievements are also required obtained through an assistant professorship (Juniorprofessur), habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant fields in Germany or abroad.
