The Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a

Postdoctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L)

at the earliest possible date. We are offering a fixed-term full-time position for 3 years. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

Your tasks:

  • Development of a test setup for in-situ Raman measurements in pharmaceutical processes
  • Evaluation of temperature exposure of particles during processing using coupled CFD-DEM simulation
  • Participation in the research activities of the institute and support for Prof Steiner’s working group
  • Supervision of students during practical courses in the laboratory and their master thesis
  • Support in the organisation of the working group’s activities
  • Participation in joint research projects and preparation of research proposals

Our expectations:

  • A graduate degree (German Staatsexamen or Diplom and/or master’s degree) and a completed PhD in pharmacy, process engineering, physics or a related discipline is required
  • Experience in simulation using coupled CFD-DEM is highly desirable, knowledge of at least one of these simulation methods is required -
  • Solid knowledge of pharmaceutical processes is an advantage
  • Good command of written and spoken English is essential
  • German language skills would be desirable for teaching students of pharmacy
  • Further desirable skills include the ability to work in an (international) team, good communication and organisational skills, as well as the ability to work independently
