The Institute for Geoinformatics (ifgi) is a globally networked institute renowned for its interdisciplinary research and teaching in geoinformatics. The research groups cover areas such as spatial data science, spatial cognition, interaction with spatial information, computer vision and machine learning.

The Institute of Geoinformatics at the Faculty of Geosciences of the University of Münster is seeking to fill the position of an

Project Coordinator and Innovation Manager (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L, 100%)

The position is full time and the regular working hours are currently 39 hours and 50 minutes per week. This permanent position is set to commence on 1 April 2025. Full-time employees are required to teach eight hours per week during the semester.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to coordinate and manage institute-wide research projects, initiatives and innovations. Tasks linked to this position include, for example, supporting the Institute in developing ideas and writing proposals for large research grants, typically involving more than one research group, e.g. for funded graduate programmes such as international training networks, Erasmus Mundus programmes, graduate school scholarship programmes, and European, national or local collaborative programmes.

Your tasks:

  • Management of large interdisciplinary and international projects and training programmes
  • Identification, organisation and management of (large) funding proposals for national and European funding lines such as the Erasmus Mundus programmes
  • Coordination of institute-wide initiatives and innovations
  • Participation in academic self-organisation
  • 8 hours per week of teaching during the semester in our degree programme

Our expectations:

  • A completed PhD in geoinformatics, spatial data science, computer science or a related discipline is required.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is required.
  • Excellent soft skills such as the ability to work in a team, management skills, communication skills, (self-)organisational skills and the ability to work independently are required.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching and supervising students is required.
  • Experience writing proposals for external funding (e.g. the DFG or the EU) would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic administration would be welcome.
