The Institute of Political Science in the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill two positions for

Postdoctoral Research Associate (f/m/d) (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L, 100%)

within the team of the Professor of Political Science with a Focus on Constitution and Politics of Gender Relations at the earliest possible date. We are offering two fixed-term full-time positions for 3 years. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

Your tasks:

  • Research with a focus on political science and gender studies
  • Participation in the preparation of research proposals
  • Support of networking activities within the university, nationally and globally
  • Teaching and thesis supervision
  • Organization of events
  • Participation in departmental administration
  • This position is tied to working towards an academic qualification.

Our expectations:

Required:

  • A graduate degree (master’s or equivalent) in political science or a related field (e.g. gender studies, queer studies, international relations, international political sociology, peace and conflict studies, forced migration studies)
  • A highly-ranked PhD in political science or a related field (as above)
  • Expertise in political science and gender studies

Desirable:

  • Solid experience in research either on international organizations, particularly the United Nations, or on conflict, violence and displacement, ideally in an African country (Please outline your experience in one of these two fields in your application)
  • Substantiated knowledge of feminist, queer, intersectional and/or postcolonial research approaches
  • Initial experience in university teaching
  • Strong methodological skills, particularly in qualitative methods
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken; a willingness to learn German
  • A team-oriented, diversity-sensitive and discrimination-critical work ethic combined with initiative, communication skills and organizational skills
