The Institute of Landscape Ecology in the Faculty of Geosciences at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a


Postdoctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L, 100%)

commencing on 1 October 2024. We are offering a fixed-term full-time position (100 %) for 1 year. As part of this position, the successful candidate will be required to teach four hours per week during the semester.

The candidate will join the Biosphere-Atmosphere Interaction (BAI) group within the Institute of Landscape Ecology (ILÖK) and collaborate closely with the members of the group.

Your tasks:

  • Teaching climatology at the BSc level
  • Providing support designing and teaching practical courses in climatology and biosphereatmosphere interaction at both BSc and MSc levels -
  • Assisting in the operation of the BAI group´s climate stations in the city of Münster

Our expectations:

  • A PhD degree (complete or near complete) in environmental sciences, micrometeorology, atmospheric or climate science, or another closely related field is required.
  • A strong commitment to teaching is desirable.
  • Strong computer programming skills (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) are expected.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills are not mandatory, but advantage.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively in a team, with transparent communication is expected.
  • Demonstrated capability for independent, self-organized work is required. - Experience using eddy covariance measurement techniques is an advantage.

Please note that excellent German written and spoken communication skills are mandatory for this position.
