The Plant Signaling Research Group led by Prof Ora Hazak at the Institute of Plant Biology and Biotechnology, University of Münster, is seeking to fill the position of a

Postdoctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L)

at the earliest possible date. We are offering a fixed-term full-time position initially for 1 year, with the possibility of an extension. Full-time employees at the University are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled candidate with expertise in plant genetics, molecular cloning, confocal imaging, and quantitative biology. Our group investigates cell-to-cell communication within plant roots and the candidate will develop a research project based on our preliminary findings. The selected candidate will benefit from excellent scientific environment at the Institute, and wide scientific network of the group. The candidate will receive support for competitive fellowship applications, developing leadership skills, preparing the candidate for an independent research position.

Your tasks:

  • Planning and performing experimental work
  • Regular reporting and writing manuscripts
  • Participation in organisation of scientific events
  • Helping in plant biology course teaching and supervising Bachelor and Master projects

Our expectations:

  • A PhD degree in plant molecular biology is required.
  • Good level of written and spoken English is required
  • Expertise in confocal microscopy, molecular cloning and plant genome editing would bean advantage.
  • German language skills would be advantageous but are not a requirement.
  • Knowledge of R would be an advantage.
  • A good background in bioinformatics would be an advantage.
  • The ability to be a good team player is expected.
  • Good communication and organisational skills are expected.
