The Department of History in the Faculty of History and Philosophy (FB 08) of the University of Münster seeks to fill the following position at the earliest possible date:

W3-level professorship in Modern and Recent History with particular focus on the 19th to the 21st century

The prospective appointee will be responsible for the full range of teaching and research activities in the subject of history of the 19th to the 21st century. The candidate is to be actively involved in all degree programmes in which the Department of History participates. German and European history of the 20th and 21st century should be the primary focus of research in this professorship. The candidate’s prior research should consist of monographs on at least two subjects from the area of the professorship. We expect the prospective appointee to participate in joint research projects. We also expect the appointee to collaborate on projects at our existing research centres.

To be considered for this position, the candidate should hold a university degree, pedagogical aptitude in university teaching and special academic qualification, substantiated by the quality of the doctoral degree. The candidate should be distinguished by further outstanding academic achievements, produced in connection with an assistant professorship (Juniorprofessur), habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant field in Germany or abroad.
